Solution:
This expression can be simplified by combining like terms
+15 x & +7x are like terms, & can be combined to give +22x,
+8y & +12y merge to give +20y, and
-2 & +17 merge to give +15.
So after simplifying, this expression becomes: 22x + 20y + 15.
